Micro thin slab with honeycomb backing is a new type of safe, environmental friendly building material. Widely used for interior and exterior decoration, it is applicable for use in building as walls, ceilings and flooring. Hence, the problem of not being able to use stone in ornamental ceilings has been solved. The slab is constructed with two layers of aluminium panelling, sandwiched between a base of aluminium or plastic honeycomb and stone surfacing.
Overcoming the fragility and heaviness of natural stone, these tiles are characterised by their high anti-impact properties and flexural strength. With the stone and honeycomb layers being 1.0 - 3.5 m and 6.0 - 50 mm thick respectively, each slab weights just 10 - 11 kg/mm2, about 1/7 the weight of natural stone of the same thickness. Meanwhile, its impact resistance is three to five times greater than of stone materials.
